Nothing toxic is sprayed, fertility comes from compost, fish and livestock waste, and ancient crop rotation keeps the soil healthy while native pollinators cohabit the hand picked beds.
The farm runs a CSA whose members get first access to the freshest produce plus extra buying power in the store, which carries the farm's canned, dried and preserved goods, herbal teas, jams, pickles, handmade soaps and local crafts, with fresh produce, baked goods and eggs sold in person. Willow-Witt RanchRaw milk, fruit, veg & eggs · Ashland4.9 (49 reviews)Willow-Witt Ranch is a 445 acre working organic farm high in the Southern Oregon Cascades, ten miles from Ashland and close to 5,000 feet up. Suzanne Willow and Lanita Witt drove up snowy Shale City Road on the last morning of 1984, looked down into a hidden valley with a big barn and a little house, and put in an offer two weeks later. They built a dairy goat operation that keeps continuity with more than 150 years of grazing on this ground while undoing what earlier use took out: cattle were fenced off the land in 2008, roughly 80 acres of eroded wetland have been regenerated until Western Pond Turtles came back, and more than 7,000 ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, incense cedar and sugar pine seedlings were planted into an overstocked white fir forest. Jackson County named them Tree Farmers of the Year in 2007 and the ranch was called a Watershed Friendly Steward in 2009. Dr Witt died in December 2022 and Suzanne carries the work on.
The on site, self serve Farm Store and the farm itself are open to the public every day from 11am to 5pm. The store sells organic raw goat milk from the ranch's own hand raised Alpine herd, in two sizes, fresh eggs including the popular rainbow eggs from their chickens plus large duck and goose eggs, and whatever organic vegetables the chalkboard says is ready, often arugula and leaf lettuces. The farm is certified organic by Oregon Tilth. You can book a farm tour to watch the dairy goats being milked and collect chicken eggs, walk about eight miles of trails, or stay on in the Meadow House, the Farmhouse Studio or the forested campground. Maremma livestock guardian dogs work here, so no visiting dogs or pets are allowed, and it is worth calling for road conditions in winter.

The name is a play on terra firma, and the farm works to rebuild soil fertility through multi species rotational grazing, on farm composting, minimal tillage and protection of sensitive riparian ground.
