Tuttle Family Farm is a small farm at Chesnee in upstate South Carolina.
The family breeds Nigerian Dwarf goats and has more recently added Nubians, with the aim of breeding Mini Nubians, and the place is also home to chickens, livestock guardian dogs and one spoiled house dog. The farm is permitted by the state of South Carolina to sell raw goat milk under permit number 24230, and says its breed of goat is known for high butterfat milk with the best flavour. Alongside the milk they handcraft goat milk soap, and they sell dairy goats and kids from their own breeding plan.
Milk goes out weekly to two local shops, Eubanks Farm Supply at Landrum and Belue Farms Natural Market at Boiling Springs, and limited quantities can be reserved for pickup at the farm itself with payment up front. They are unusually open about how the animals are kept: the goats free graze and browse through the day, with hay, clean water and minerals available all the time and a quality dairy goat feed while the does are milking, plus an honest note that they have not yet found an organic non GMO feed they are happy with. They vaccinate their does once a year with CD/T, and milk is not taken for human consumption until at least two weeks after kidding.
