Spero Homestead is a goat dairy in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge at Cook, Washington, offering real food for real people since 2014.

Two neighbours who met on a tiny city lot in Portland pieced together a homestead that backs onto national forest and looks out over the Columbia River, and named it Spero, Latin for hope. They breed Mini Nubians, a cross between Nigerian Dwarfs and full size Nubians chosen for the best milk around, floppy ears and splashy colours.

The herd is kept holistically: no chemical dewormers on a schedule and no routine antibiotics, with free choice minerals, herbal support and close attention instead. The milk is sweet and creamy, and because it is sold raw, customers sign a contract before purchasing from the farm. Kids and adult goats are also available.
