The family has been at it for over fifteen years, milking a herd of fifty plus Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian and LaMancha goats chosen for higher butterfat and richer flavour. Peak production sits around 30 to 35 gallons a day, kept deliberately small so land, animals and milk quality stay right. Raw goat milk is sold unpasteurised and unhomogenised at the farm store, open every day from 8am to 8pm, along with eggs from free range chickens and ducks, goat milk soap and lotion, and goods from neighbouring producers the family trusts. The milk also reaches co-ops and farmers markets across Washington. Visits are free with no reservation needed, three cabins host farm stays, and six to eight interns live and learn on the farm at any time.

They bought the first 26 acres in 1981 with nothing on the ground, put in a well, and built a home, a farmstead and a cheese business from there. The dairy has been making farmstead goat cheese since 1987 and now milks a herd of 37 goats. Every wheel is made with milk from their own animals and aged as raw milk cheese: the sweet, nutty Curado, the firm and spicy Viejo that grates like a Romano, and the crumbly Farmer, alongside smoked, paprika and curry versions, a wild ripened Quilli Blue and an ash log. Cheese is sold direct from the farm as a gift pack or as a cheese CSA share, shipped by ground courier within Washington state and by priority mail elsewhere, and it is stocked by service delis around the Pacific Northwest. In 2002 Rick and Lora Lea also started the Quillisascut Farm School of the Domestic Arts, a farm to table workshop where chefs, culinary students and serious home cooks stay on the farm for a week, watch the goats being milked, make cheese, help care for the animals and harvest from the gardens and the orchard. Both 2026 summer sessions filled with a waiting list.

The Conways have kept goats since 1974 and have held a licensed Washington State Grade A dairy since 2005. Dairy goats, sheep and chickens share the daily round of the farm. Shaun is the steady hand behind the buildings, systems and daily maintenance, and Lorrie makes the seasonal cheeses and gelato style ice creams and designs and tends the gardens. The milk comes from their small herd of Nubian dairy goats and is bottled fresh. Because it is made in small batches it is not sold through shops or farmers markets. Customers join the farm's own milk programme with a short intake and agreement, then order weekly through a portal and collect at the farm, as the farm does not deliver. Alongside the milk they make artisan goat cheeses and goat milk ice cream, and grow blueberries, orchard fruit, seasonal vegetables, honey and fresh cut flowers. The self serve farm store is open seven days a week from 9am to dusk through the summer months.

The cows are 100% grass fed with no grain, milked once a day early in the morning, and calves are raised on their mothers. The milk is quickly cooled and immediately bottled, nothing added and nothing taken away, under a Washington State raw milk licence with monthly testing. The farm store at Trout Lake is open daily 7am to 7pm for raw milk, raw cream, raw low fat milk and eggs from free roaming hens fed non GMO grain and never given antibiotics or hormones. There is 100% grass fed and finished beef from the farm's own pastures, local stockists and weekly pickups across the Gorge, and hay wagon farm tours.

Preston Naillon got his first beef cow at 13 and started the farm in 2018, going full time by 2020. Today he and his wife Rachel run a couple hundred beef cows, 23 dairy cows and four dairy calves across five leased farms and 1,000 acres of hay ground, growing all their own hay from April to October so they know exactly what their animals eat. The family bottles Grade A raw milk and cream themselves, never pasteurised, and it reaches shops and co-ops across Washington state with the Naillons handling every delivery in person. The children are part of the work: the older three do the bottling for the dairy and keep the stalls clean, and the younger ones raise their own market animals through 4-H and FFA. The dairy was added in December, on land Rachel's family had farmed long before. The farm also sells beef, lamb and pork to local customers.

The creamery is best known for its French style yogurt, handcrafted in plain, vanilla, strawberry and peach, always full fat and made from the farm's own A2/A2 milk with all natural ingredients. The farm also makes a rich French style cream with a naturally high fat content, and raw milk is available directly from the farm: the contact page invites you to text them whenever you need it.

Renegade Ridge Creamery

The creamery states it is the first RAWMI listed farm in Washington State, following strict protocols for its raw milk. The Jersey herd is fed soy free, non GMO feed with organic camelina. Members of Club Renegade, a 20 dollar lifetime membership, buy raw A2A2 milk, cream, skim and aged milk, plus lard and home raised beef tallow, through farm pickup on Wednesdays and weekly drop point fridges in Kennewick, Dayton, Waitsburg, Walla Walla and nearby towns. The creamery is moving from a private membership association to a state licence.

Two neighbours who met on a tiny city lot in Portland pieced together a homestead that backs onto national forest and looks out over the Columbia River, and named it Spero, Latin for hope. They breed Mini Nubians, a cross between Nigerian Dwarfs and full size Nubians chosen for the best milk around, floppy ears and splashy colours. The herd is kept holistically: no chemical dewormers on a schedule and no routine antibiotics, with free choice minerals, herbal support and close attention instead. The milk is sweet and creamy, and because it is sold raw, customers sign a contract before purchasing from the farm. Kids and adult goats are also available.

True North Cattle Co

True North Cattle CoRaw milk, meat & eggs · NorthportTrue North Cattle Co is a family farm on the Columbia River in Stevens County, Washington, founded in April 2020 by the Creach family together with Tonye Marie Castaneda and Peter Wagner. It sits about seven miles south of Northport, roughly two hours north of Spokane and fifteen minutes from the Canadian border. Phil and Em Creach came to it the long way round, through a year helping run a 460 cow commercial dairy in North Dakota, then years of milking one beloved Guernsey house cow called Elsie for their neighbours, and finally 17 acres of raw land bought in 2016 and homesteaded from scratch. All six Creach children are being trained in the work, and two of them now hold jobs on the crew: Eli as farm manager and ranch foreman, Nate as lead milker. The family handles every stage of its livestock from birth to butcher, and grows about 80 percent of the feed needed for the winter months when grazing is not available. The beef is Belted Galloway, and the farm states plainly on its own beef page that all of it is grass fed, grass finished and USDA certified. The dairy is built on Guernsey cows, which the farm calls the gems of True North, and sells Grade A raw milk by the half gallon, Grade A raw heavy cream and whole milk yogurt in plain, vanilla and maple. There is also heritage pork from Old Line swine breeds, free range chicken eggs and whole Cornish cross broilers. You can collect at the farm during farm hours, or order online for the weekly drop sites at the farmers market on South Main Street in Colville on Wednesdays and On Fire Ministries on East Pacific Avenue in Spokane on Thursdays.
