Elsworthy Farm
Elsworthy Farm is a Pasture for Life certified family hill farm on Exmoor at Skilgate, Somerset, raising 100% grass fed English Longhorn cattle for periodic beef boxes and farm experiences.
Elsworthy Farm is a family hill farm at the door of Exmoor National Park at Skilgate in Somerset, started in 2005 with traditional English Longhorn cattle.
The cattle are 100% pasture reared and grass fed for their whole lives, slowly grown until they naturally reach maturity, and the farm is certified Pasture for Life. The Longhorns stay in their natural family groups, an approach based on Rosamund Young's idea of cattle families, and the farm runs educational farm experiences on regenerative hill farming and cattle whispering.
The main production is high welfare meat from the bullocks, antibiotic and medication free, hung on the bone for at least three weeks and cut, vacuum packed and labelled by a local family slaughterhouse. 10kg meat boxes at 170 pounds are released periodically, usually in the run up to Christmas and ahead of summer, with the next round in November 2026 and early reservations recommended. I had a wonderful morning at Elsworthy Farm, walking with Philip and meeting the cattle in Exmoor’s beautiful landscape. It was a pleasure to learn about and see his kind and compassionate approach to livestock farming, the benefits it brings, and his sensitive way of managing and regenerating the land. A very interesting and enjoyable visit.

I had the pleasure of being shown around Elsworthy Farm last week by the knowledgeable Philip Beauvais. The cows were the stars of the show, with the rolling hills & views of Exmoor coming a close second. It was interesting to hear about the approach & ethos of this hillside small holding and, well worth the scenic trip up there.

Highly recommend Elsworthy Farm meat boxes.. The meat is superb and the steaks a just wonderful. It’s so nice to know that for me this meat has been raised in my village completely organic. I will be buying again.
