8000 Eggs Farm is a small farm in the mountains at Evergreen, Colorado, run by a couple who came to farming from professional kitchens.
Between them they hold degrees in culinary arts, food service management and culinary nutrition, and more than two decades in hospitality convinced them that the American food system was broken, built on subsidies, CAFOs and mono culture. Their answer was to raise the animals themselves: Icelandic sheep, Mulefoot and Iowa Swabian Hall pigs, and Alpine and LaMancha goats, with chickens on the same ground.
The animals are rotationally grazed through spring, summer and fall, and fed local non GMO grain, mountain grown hay, non sprayed alfalfa, pasture, pumpkins and raw goats milk. The farm puts it as feeding for flavour, layering the taste of the meat the way a brewer layers a beer. Pastured meat is sold direct from the farm and a sample pork cut sheet is published on the site, while raw goat milk is offered through a herd share on a dedicated milk share line, 720 537 6191.
