Ghost Dog Dairy is a family run farm in Hardwick, Vermont raising pasture raised pigs and a dairy goat herd and growing certified organic Music garlic.
Ghost Dog Dairy is a family owned farm in Hardwick, in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, run by a military family who made the move into full time farming.
The herd began as registered American Alpines and has been crossed with Saanens since 2017, and the goats browse and graze outdoors through the grazing season on the farm's own certified organic hay, pasture, herbs and garlic. Kids are dam raised by their own mothers. The farm runs its own micro dairy, where the milk is fermented, processed and bottled on site as Farm Dog Formula, a lightly fermented raw goats milk tonic for dogs and cats rather than a drinking milk.
The same herbal pastures are rotated into garlic beds, where the farm grows a porcelain hardneck variety called Music that is certified organic by Vermont Organic Farmers, packed by the pound and posted out. The garlic earns its keep twice over, because it is also used against parasite cycles in the herd instead of chemical treatments, and the June scapes go into the sausages. Pigs root and graze rotationally through open fields and the hedges around the farm's native apple trees, fed fresh goats milk and apples, and they turn thick sod into new garlic beds and hayfields as they go. The farm store sells goat meat, garlic scape goat sausages, pasture raised pork shares and small batch goat milk soap made with the farm's own milk.

We visited this farm in September 2023. Steve gave us and our 2 year old a wonderful tour of the farm animals and incredible property, and shared so much amazing information about farming etc. this is a top notch place. We are so happy we came here, and would definitely recommend visiting (and grabbing some of their goat milk hand soap!) Thank you Steve and family! -your visitors from Cleveland.

Goats. Garlic. Freedom. Come to the land of 100% bio goat milk soap. Tiptoe through the tulips and you might end up getting your feet chomped on by a passing sow. Those goats get you. Those sunsets too. That pond and fresh water from the spring support a unique and dynamic ecosystem, made all the more unique by the surprising presence of a duck. This trauma survivor fled certain death and today keeps up with the goats like any kid. There is also a random guinea fowl but it was just a neighbor's bad joke gone feral.
Great operation run by great people. Restoring the land naturally and take really good care of their animals.
A beautiful place!
Great folks and great products.
