    The best farms

    1. 1Homestead ProduceHomestead ProduceFruit, veg & eggs · Bonners Ferry5 (16 reviews)Homestead Produce is a family farm run by Jordan and Kayla on Highway 95 at Bonners Ferry, in the far north of Idaho. Laying hens live in mobile coops on organically managed fields and are fed a locally milled ration of peas, barley, alfalfa and camelina meal with organic micronutrients, never corn, soy or GMOs. The farm also grows regenerative, organically grown gourmet garlic, saving its best bulbs for seed, and seasonal vegetables. An on farm stand in the tin walled shop at the farm entrance is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, selling the farm's own eggs, garlic and vegetables alongside goods from many other local farms, which customers say includes raw milk and local meats. The eggs are also stocked by shops, bakeries and cafes across Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls.
    2. 2Wing Over FarmWing Over FarmFruit, veg & eggs · Moscow5 (6 reviews)Wing Over Farm is an organic vegetable, flower and pasture raised egg farm in Moscow, Idaho. Jenny Parker and Paul Brandenstein own and run it across two sites totalling seven acres, growing a wide range of organic produce and cut flowers using low till, sustainable growing practices. You can buy from the farm through its Summer CSA, its own farm store on the property, and its stall at the Moscow Farmers Market, where it has traded for several seasons. The farm also sells wholesale to local restaurants, the Moscow Food Co-op and two area food pantries. Alongside its own eggs and produce, the farm store stocks pasture raised meat from Blue Wildrye Farm and goods from a handful of other local makers.
    3. 3Bold Rebalance FarmBold Rebalance FarmRaw milk, meat, fruit & veg · EmmettBold Rebalance Farm is a five acre homestead farm in Emmett, Idaho, run by Erica and Jason with their family. They raise ADGA registered Nigerian Dwarf and Nubian dairy goats, Jersey cows, Idaho Pasture Pigs and pasture raised chickens, and they grow garlic, vegetables and organic u-pick fruit including grapes, plums and apples. Erica spent nearly 17 years in nursing before the couple bought the five acre farm in November 2020, and their stated mission is to strengthen the relationship between you and your farmer through food integrity and total transparency. Both the goat milk and the cow milk are sold raw. The farm's own FAQ page says the milk is raw, describes its Idaho raw milk license, and sets out annual tuberculosis and brucellosis testing for the dairy herd alongside weekly mastitis checks. Animals are fed a non GMO diet with no corn, no soy, no antibiotics, no hormones and no preservatives, and any animal that does need antibiotics comes off the milk line until she recovers. Long ferment sourdough comes from their own on farm bakery, Wild Bandit Bakery, and the farm also runs chicken butchering classes and an organic u-pick season.
    4. 4Loreto FarmLoreto FarmRaw milk, meat, fruit & veg · CaldwellLoreto Farm is a small family farm at Caldwell in Idaho, producing raw Jersey and Guernsey milk under Idaho Raw Milk Permit RM#401. The herd is small enough for each cow to get individual care and much of it carries A2/A2 genetics. The cows and the pasture drink the same well water the family drinks rather than irrigation water, grazing is rotational, and the milk is cooled quickly after milking and bottled in small batches. Because it is never homogenised, the cream rises naturally to the top. Alongside milk, cream and small batch yogurt, the farm keeps pasture raised laying hens, raises grass fed dorper lamb, sells grass fed Angus beef when the season allows, brews kombucha, and grows peaches, apricots, plums, nectarines, apples and blackberries in its own orchard using low spray and regenerative practices. There is no shop counter and availability changes week to week, so the farm asks people to get in touch to reserve products and arrange pickup. Families are welcome to come out and see where their food comes from, including the newest calf, Cookies.
