The best farms

  1. 1The farmers sitting on hay bales with their two young daughters on their lapsStraight Up OutsideRaw milk, meat & eggs · Lake Crystal5 (21 reviews)Straight Up Outside is a small farm just outside Lake Crystal, Minnesota, milking Jersey cross cows for raw, grass fed A2A2 milk. The herd is fully forage fed, and the milk is filtered and chilled on site so it goes home fresh. The farm shop is open three days a week and milk must be reserved ahead, sold in half gallon increments for pickup at the farm only, so bring your own containers. Free range chicken and duck eggs and small batch maple syrup cooked over a wood fire are sold first come first served. The farm is currently at capacity for milk customers, with a waiting list run by farmer Annie.
  2. 2Freedom Reign FarmFreedom Reign FarmRaw milk & eggs · Buffalo5 (9 reviews)Freedom Reign Farm is a small family goat dairy at Buffalo, Minnesota, keeping a herd of registered Mini Nubian goats. The farm sells raw goat milk in limited quantities, alongside its own goat milk chevre and handcrafted goat milk and tallow soaps, lotions and herbal salves, all made on the farm. The goats are fed transitional organic grains and no spray hay, with a free choice mineral programme of more than twenty individual minerals. The Little Farm Shop sits ten minutes west of Buffalo and is open daily, stocking organic sourdough bread and transitional organic eggs beside the farm's own products. The farm displays the Weston A Price Foundation Campaign for Real Milk badge and is a member of Farm Direct Minnesota.
  3. 3Katy sitting on the grass in a wax jacket, smiling, with her horned sheep grazing around herBoomflower FarmRaw milk, meat & eggs · Kenyon5 (6 reviews)Boomflower Farm in Kenyon, Minnesota grew from the idea that farm grown does not stop at food. Katy runs the place with her husband, having moved onto the land in 2020 with sheep, cows and poultry, and she balances the farm with full time work as a mental health therapist. Her own herbs, honey and lanolin go into soap, shampoo and body care, the flock's wool becomes bedding and other textiles, and the farm food runs from chicken and lamb to eggs and milk, with grass fed beef and lamb shares. Everything is in the online shop, and there are farm classes too.

The family follow regenerative practices meant to build soil health and keep the land in good heart for the next generation, and they welcome visitors who want to see how the animals are raised. Meat and raw milk are sold directly from the farm, with delivery available. The farm website was not reachable when we last checked, so phone or email ahead to confirm what is on offer.
  5. 5Great Heritage Farm LLCGreat Heritage Farm LLCRaw milk & eggs · Winthrop5 (3 reviews)Great Heritage Farm is a family run farm at Winthrop, Minnesota, raising pasture raised meat and raw milk from a small home creamery. The animals spend spring to autumn out on grass, moved regularly in a rotational grazing pattern that keeps the pastures growing and the livestock healthy. Beef, pork and lamb are sold through shares, with beef offered as a CSA or bulk share and pork shares opening in April. Join the farm's Nourished email list to hear when shares open, or get in touch through the website to reserve.
  6. 6Honeymilk HomesteadHoneymilk HomesteadRaw milk & eggs · IsantiHoneymilk Homestead is a young family farm at Isanti, Minnesota, started in the family's words to provide quality food for our family and yours. Johanna grew up on a dairy farm drinking raw milk, and the farm's name joins the honeybees and milk cows it keeps, a nod to the land flowing with milk and honey. The A2 herd is raised on pasture without hormones, antibiotics, GMOs or soy, and the family follows the cleaning and testing standards recommended by the Raw Milk Institute. As Minnesota law requires, raw milk is bought at the farm itself: customers reserve ahead, bring their own jars and collect during farm store hours, with a waitlist when winter production drops. In May 2026 the spring cows calved and the waitlist cleared. The store also carries pastured eggs, raw honey, maple syrup, pastured pork, chicken and beef, open Monday afternoons, Wednesday and Friday mornings and some Saturdays.
  7. 7Rolling Hills Cattle CompanyRolling Hills Cattle CompanyMeat & eggs · AvonRolling Hills Cattle Company is Christina Traeger's fourth generation farm in Avon, Minnesota, where she has raised British White cattle since 1996 alongside her sister business Grillin Meats. All the beef is 100% grass fed and grass finished, certified by the American Grassfed Association, with no wheat, corn or soy, the stock free ranging across 70 acres of grasses. Her herd began with nine white cows and has grown to several hundred. Beyond beef, the farm raises pastured chicken, duck, goose and guinea fowl, heritage Mangalitsa and Berkshire cross pigs, lamb and eggs, on antibiotic and hormone free feed. Meat sells by the cut, in bundles from a sixteenth to a whole beast, and through a monthly beef CSA subscription box, with a full range of organ meats and tallow. The stated mission is to raise beef that heals, through regenerative agriculture.
  8. 8The Lewis FarmThe Lewis FarmRaw milk & eggs · North BranchThe Lewis Farm is a first generation family farm in North Branch, Minnesota, started by Sydney and Robert in 2017 and now run with their four children. Two A2A2 Jersey cows supply the family and their community with raw milk, sold by the half gallon from the on farm stand and restocked twice daily. Eggs are collected every day and sold unwashed to keep their natural protective coating, and the stand also carries the farm's own chicken, pork and beef, everything priced so you can shop whenever suits you. The animals eat a diet of non GMO grains and the chickens and beef graze on pasture, and the family raise the same meat they put on their own dinner table. Whole chickens, pork, beef and pasture raised turkeys can be preordered by the season, and the farm also sells at local farmers markets in Lindstrom, Scandia and Burnett County.
  9. 9Boos Lake FarmBoos Lake FarmRaw milk, fruit, veg & eggs · LindstromBoos Lake Farm is the Kellum family's 20 acre homestead in Lindstrom, central Minnesota. What began with three chickens on a quarter acre has grown into a farm offering organically raised, pastured chicken and turkey, pastured pork, 100% grass fed and grass finished lamb from Katahdin and St Croix hair sheep, raw milk, eggs, honey and garden vegetables and flowers. The family's first milk cow, Mazzy, arrived in 2021, and the sheep were added to support the farm's regenerative pasture management. Grass fed raw milk is sold by the gallon with the full cream, and the pigs are moved through the pasture, fed by the land along with second quality garden produce and the feed they need for protein. A Seasonal Abundance CSA runs March through October with boxes of produce, proteins, baked goods, canned goods and specialty items, all grown, raised and made from scratch on the farm. Little Home Baker, the family's cottage bakery, makes cakes, breads, bagels and cookies to order. Orders are placed directly by email, message or phone, with pickup arranged at the farm.
  10. 10Isaiah 11:6Isaiah 11:6Raw milk & eggs · HarmonyIsaiah 11:6 is Lydia's small dairy goat farm, raising healthy, disease free registered Alpine and Mini Alpine goats since 2012. The herd is tested for CAE and Johnes, has never had a CL abscess, and every animal has been bought from disease free herds. The goats eat organically grown hay, get organic grain on the milking stand, and are intensively rotationally grazed on five acres when the weather permits, with a free choice mineral buffet, kelp and herbal wormer tea. Kids are dam raised and handled daily; once they are a couple of weeks old the kids are separated at night so the mothers can be milked in the morning. Goat milk is available from the farm, with peak season running March to October and a very small supply the farm does its best to stretch year round. A free ranging flock of ducks provides eggs, with Ancona ducklings planned, and registered goat kids are sold each season.
