The best farms

  1. 1Eagles Acres Family FarmEagles Acres Family FarmHoney farm in Saint Ignatius4.9 (7 reviews)Eagles Acres is a family farm at St Ignatius, Montana, raising livestock without medication or vaccinations. Chickens live on unsprayed pasture, moved daily in chicken tractors and fed non-GMO feed, pigs rotate through woodlots on a soy and corn free diet, and the beef herd of full bred Highland and Angus cattle is grass raised and finished. Katahdin lambs and orchard raised Thanksgiving turkeys, finished on windfallen apples and pears, round out the year. Meat is sold whole or by the half, chickens come whole and packaged, and there is raw unfiltered honey from the farm's own hives. You reserve ahead and collect at the farm gate.
  2. 2Dynamite AcresDynamite AcresRaw milk farm in Whitehall5 (3 reviews)Dynamite Acres is a family farm at the foot of the Tobacco Root Mountains in Whitehall, Montana, with several generations living and working on the place. The family milk Alpine goats for raw milk, keep pasture raised chickens for eggs, and raise pigs and rabbits, rotating the animals around their pastures to protect the ground, while a natural creek along the property edge keeps the farm rich in wildlife. Alongside raw goats milk, eggs, honey, garden produce and apple goods from the orchard, the farm sells handmade things, from goats milk soaps, lotions and candles to crochet gifts and peg games. Orders are placed through the online shop or by contacting the family directly, and opening hours run long, from 8am on weekdays.
  3. 3Lohof Grass-finished beefButcher in OtterLohof Grass-Finished Meats is a family ranch operation from Patrick and Christy Lohof, raising grass finished beef, lamb and goat on Montana range land. The animals are bred, born and slow grown there for over 2 years, with no antibiotics, hormones or animal by-products, and the beef is dry aged and USDA inspected. Beef sells by the individual cut or in bulk as wholes, halves and smaller bundles, with free delivery to Billings, Montana and Sheridan, Wyoming, plus cow shares and custom cutting on request. They also offer raw honey and other local foods. There are no fixed hours, so call or email to place an order.
