Cork Rooftop Farm is an urban farm in Cork city founded by Brian McCarthy in 2020, begun as a homestead growing project on a rooftop during the first lockdown and built into a commercial operation within a year.
Salad crops and herbs grow aeroponically on the rooftop while a no dig market garden supplies a community supported agriculture scheme, with veg boxes in three sizes that customers can curate and order weekly or fortnightly, alongside a stall in Cork's English Market on Grand Parade.
McCarthy was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship in 2020 to study a framework for urban agriculture, visiting farms in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, the UK, Canada and the United States. The farm also teaches what it practises, running growing courses and events including a masterclass with the market gardener Jean Martin Fortier, and welcomes volunteers to help on the growing sites.

Ordered online, didn't get what I ordered and emailed them repeatedly with no response. Tried on their website and the contact email to no avail over weeks. Would not recommend anyone to order as I found their customer service to be no help at all and a rip if you don't even get your full order.

I visited two locations in search of pasture raised eggs as advertised. One was listed as open but was in fact shut down — a complete waste of time. The other, in the English Market, had staff who were unable to confirm whether the eggs on display were pasture-raised or not, and responded almost surprised that I even asked...is that normal? I'm don't think it is. I have better things to be doing with my time. More effort required on a number of fronts.
