Ian Mernagh's grandfather bought the castle and its farmland in 1920 and the family have worked the land ever since, keeping the wild flowers, the ancient stone walls and the native Irish wild bees that live in them. Ian bought two hives in 2015 and began breeding his own bees. From those first two there are now almost sixty production hives in apiaries across the farm and the surrounding countryside.
The honey is raw and unpasteurised and contains nothing but honey from their own bees. Because the family manage the hives directly, they know exactly which apiary every jar came from. The range shifts with the season and takes in a summer blossom honey and a softset honey, alongside beeswax candles and honey chocolates that Marie and their daughters develop. It trades online as All About Nectar.

Everything is sold through the online shop, from jars and tubs of honey to gift sets and beeswax candles, and orders are delivered. The honey itself is collected between the months of May and August.

Chef and writer Anthony O'Toole started it in 2016 with a single polytunnel and has since built it into one of Ireland's most unusual growing spaces, home to more than 500 heritage and open pollinated varieties of vegetables, fruit, herbs and edible flowers. Everything is chosen for flavour, curiosity and biodiversity rather than yield, and nothing artificial goes into the ground.
At the garden gate there is an honesty farm shop, open seven days a week and stocked by whatever the garden is giving that week. Expect fresh vegetables and herbs, rainbow eggs, potted plants, garden seeds and small batch condiments, ferments and drinks made in the farm kitchen. Cash and card are both taken. The wider range of preserves and heritage seeds is also sold through the online shop, with delivery across Ireland.

Wexford, raising chickens, ducks and pigs as close to nature as possible. The birds and pigs roam freely, rooting, pecking and foraging on chemical free pasture, keeping their beaks, tails and teeth just as nature intended, and poultry is processed on site to keep stress to a minimum.
The online shop sells organic chicken and duck, occasionally organic pork, and boxes of organic vegetables, along with cheeses, butter, olives and Wexford honey. Order for delivery, or pick up their produce through local stockists. - 5
Tykillen FarmFarm shop 路 BallyharranTykillen Farm sits at Ballyharran near Crossabeg, a few miles north of Wexford town. It was founded by John and Frances Morris and is now run in partnership with their daughter Ciara Kinsella, a qualified veterinary surgeon, and her husband Liam, so three generations work the same ground. The farm carries just over 100 ewes that lamb in early March and are reared outdoors on clover, carefully selected grazing grasses and herbs. Recently planted multi species swards have cut the farm's reliance on fertiliser, and about fifteen acres are under forestry.
Liam took a beekeeping course in 2019 and the farm now keeps its own hives. The honey carries the taste of the farm's clover, blackberry, wild cherry, wildflower meadow and tree blossom. It is raw and only cold filtered, so the flavour, enzymes, proteins and antioxidants stay in the jar. It is harvested in late summer and has sold out every year since the first harvest in 2020. - 6
Thorpe's Organic FarmFruit & veg 路 New RossThorpe's Organic Farm is a family holding at Knockroe House, a few miles outside New Ross in the south of County Wexford. Desmond and Olive Thorpe farm it with their family, and it has been fully certified organic with the Irish Organic Association for more than thirty years, which makes it one of the longest standing organic farms in the county.
The ground carries a rotation of seasonal vegetables alongside a cereal crop and a small number of cattle and sheep. Through the year the beds give broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, savoy and red cabbage, leeks, Brussels sprouts and kale, and the tillage ground grows organic oats. Beef and lamb come off the same land in small numbers. Nothing is grown with artificial fertiliser or synthetic sprays, in line with the organic standard the farm has held for three decades. There is no online shop, so it is best to ring the farm and ask what is ready.

A wonderful place to stay, right outside of Wexford. My mother and I loved everything about it. The grounds were lovely and the house was beautiful. Clean, well appointed rooms, with all the amenities. The breakfast was exceptional! Paul and Patricya were warm and welcoming. We highly recommend Killiane, and hope to return again soon!

I bought a jar of honey as me and my pals were passing by on a cycling tour, and Mick kindly gave me a free extra shot jar of honey! And it tasted amazing, whilst also giving me a much need boost of energy! What's more is one of us had left their bag outside his house, and he was amazing enough to bring the bag to us in Gorey! Unbelievable guy, and incredible generousity! I for one will continue to support Tara Hill Honey 馃憤
