Thorpe's Organic Farm is a family farm near New Ross, Co. Wexford, certified organic for over thirty years, growing seasonal vegetables, oats, beef and lamb.
Thorpe's Organic Farm is a family holding at Knockroe House, a few miles outside New Ross in the south of County Wexford. Desmond and Olive Thorpe farm it with their family, and it has been fully certified organic with the Irish Organic Association for more than thirty years, which makes it one of the longest standing organic farms in the county.
The ground carries a rotation of seasonal vegetables alongside a cereal crop and a small number of cattle and sheep. Through the year the beds give broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, savoy and red cabbage, leeks, Brussels sprouts and kale, and the tillage ground grows organic oats. Beef and lamb come off the same land in small numbers. Nothing is grown with artificial fertiliser or synthetic sprays, in line with the organic standard the farm has held for three decades. There is no online shop, so it is best to ring the farm and ask what is ready.
