Order was well packaged and a lot of effort went into this. Bought quite a number of Garlic bulbs which were well cured and ready to plant with no cloves spoilt. Great Quality.
Wonderful place...the gardens and the selection of produce in the honesty shop. Just amazing.
Lovely little shop with an honesty box.
Fantastic range of products and care and attention to the little details! Outstanding.
Fat Tomato is a great Irish enterprise to do business with. It’s so good to find a company that’s happy to go the extra mile to please customers, especially at such a busy time of the year as Christmas. I ordered a number of items recently as a Christmas gift. They arrived within two days, even in such a busy period. The items were so well packaged, that it would have been a shame to undo so much careful wrapping to just place it all in a gift basket, so l simply wrapped the entire box in Christmas wrapping paper. I have never previously come across such thoughtful and individual wrapping of every item. I was amazed as I saw the gift being unboxed on Christmas Day. Nothing in the pack could possibly have gotten broken. This was a very positive shopping experience, during a period when so many people are stressed about gifts arriving in time. It really pays to keep your business in Ireland and Fat Tomato certainly knows how to please its customers.
This honesty shop is such a magical place, tiny, yet full of seasonal foodie treasures. Almost everything is grown with love in the garden on-site and the preserves are handmade on site with such consideration and care. This little space is so stylishly designed with whimsical touches - you won’t be able to resist bringing home some rainbow eggs, a lovely cordial, a bouquet of fresh herbs or a pot of jewel-like jam made from local hedgerows. The full range of produce is on the website and everything is beautifully and thoughtfully packaged. This is where I buy gifts for ‘the person who has everything’ - they are one a kind seasonal expressions of an Irish kitchen garden captured in bottles and jars of pure delight. The very best. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fat tomato… wow… their pickles, preserves, and syrups 😱 are so damn good. I haven’t been to the honesty shop in person, only shopped online, but the packaging is outstanding, and everything tastes AMAZING. And because everything LOOKS so good and is packaged so beautifully (if you don’t want to be totally greedy and keep it all for yourself) the items available on the website make great gifts for the hard-to-please gourmand in your life. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Fat Tomato is such a special find. Anthony has created a beautiful, thriving garden full of heritage and heirloom varieties to be cherished. Everything is grown with care for biodiversity, sustainability, and taste, not just yield. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food, gardening, or simply seeing what’s possible when someone puts their heart into a project. (And the eggs from the Fat Tomato chickens are the best eggs money can buy!)
Fat Tomato is an edible garden at Camolin, Co. Wexford, growing over 500 heritage varieties and selling its own produce from an honesty farm shop.
Fat Tomato is an edible garden on Carrig Rua Hill at Ballymore, just outside Camolin in north Wexford. Chef and writer Anthony O'Toole started it in 2016 with a single polytunnel and has since built it into one of Ireland's most unusual growing spaces, home to more than 500 heritage and open pollinated varieties of vegetables, fruit, herbs and edible flowers. Everything is chosen for flavour, curiosity and biodiversity rather than yield, and nothing artificial goes into the ground.
At the garden gate there is an honesty farm shop, open seven days a week and stocked by whatever the garden is giving that week. Expect fresh vegetables and herbs, rainbow eggs, potted plants, garden seeds and small batch condiments, ferments and drinks made in the farm kitchen. Cash and card are both taken. The wider range of preserves and heritage seeds is also sold through the online shop, with delivery across Ireland.
