Closer To Cow Dairy is a small grass fed raw milk dairy in Charlevoix, Northern Michigan, milking heritage Ayrshire cows and welcoming visitors while its farm dairy is built out.
Closer To Cow Dairy is a small grass fed dairy in Charlevoix, Northern Michigan, built on a simple belief: milk should come from a relationship, not a system.
The herd is made up of Ayrshire cows, a heritage dairy breed known for strength, balance and rich, flavourful milk, and each cow is known as an individual and cared for with patience, respect and time. The farm invites people to come closer to where their nourishment comes from, with open pasture, old barns and northern light.
The farm is run by founder Benjamin Church, who grew up on a small farm and later worked at the highest levels of global pharmaceutical and food systems before returning to the dairy cow with a deliberately small, transparent and relational model. The dairy is currently being built out and visitors are welcome. Alongside the milk itself, the farm offers Soaked sessions, a grounding ritual where guests soak their feet in warm fresh milk in a cosy, farm inspired space.
