De Vor Dairy Farm & Creamery

Drove an hour to see a dairy farm and got yelled at trying to take our two year to wave at cows. They don’t have a bathroom for customers and basically told me I should pull off and urinate on the side of the road. I’m sure the ice cream is okay but didn’t want to give them any business.

I visited De Vor Farm as a fun team activity during a corporate retreat. Henk and Jackie showed us an amazing time! We visited their adorable dairy cows, who were thrilled to receive lots of pets. Next, they walked us through the cheese making process. We got to check out the cellar and learn all about the extensive efforts that go into making a wheel of Gouda. The real treat was an extensive cheese tasting the De Vor’s put on for us, where we were able to taste generous portions of approximately 20 different varieties of delicious cheese. To cap it all off, we got samples of their delicious ice cream! It was a fantastic event and I’d highly recommend a visit to the farm for small groups or private events!

What a fun experience! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Who knew that there's such a great cheese place right there in Kalkaska. Bought lots of tasty Gouda! Plus.... Their ice cream is so tasty!... Can't wait for our next trip North.

Had a blast with the cows and calves. Owners were super nice and accommodating...but the Gouda, holy cow, the Gouda was so good I bought a whole 20lb wheel...the kids probably smashed a 1lb. Chunk on the way home. We'll worth the trip and the cost. I would definitely stop in again. Thanks.

What an amazing and exciting experience this farm offers! Go cuddle some cows, pet some farm dogs & goats, and eat creamy and delicious ice cream! I drove nearly six hours solo round trip from the GR area after researching cow cuddling in MI, and I don’t regret it one bit. It was on my life bucket list and it was truly such a great experience. Jackie, one of the owners, was with me out in the pasture answering all my questions and taking numerous pictures and videos for me (how cool is that!?) She was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. You can tell she loves her cows and is passionate about her farm and business. The cows were amazing. Jackie pointed out some of them that were very receptive to pets and scritches, (Cashmere, Chewie, and Honeybee to name some!) and they warmed up pretty quickly and bumped you to let you know they wanted all the pets they can get. I would suggest to really live in the moment, because the time goes fast. I would also recommend to wear some muck/rain boots because it’s a farm with mud and poop, people! I wore a light blue shirt that got dirty from muddy cow nuzzling and licks, and I wish I would have brought a change of clothes for the ride home, so keep that in mind too! They have a variety of cheese and ice cream (as well as some milk—chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, etc—offered from a local farm) I made sure to grab some goodies before I left. I got the Birthday Party ice cream as I’m a die hard for that flavor, and it was just so yummy! Make sure you check it out! I’ll be back to see the cows, don’t miss out and go see them! You won’t regret it.

Had a great time here with our kiddos. Spend some time "cuddling" the big cows, but the highlight for the kids were definitely the baby goats and the new calf. So much cuteness!! The owner, Henk, was so hospitable, and shared lots of knowledge with us about the animals and farm life. The homemade ice cream and Gouda were amazing as well! Definitely worth a visit, and likely for us, more visits in the future!
