Bonny Acres Farm is a first generation family farm in Benzie County, northern Michigan, where Cody and Emily Buchanan and their three girls put down roots after leaving metro Detroit.
Since 2021 they have built up a garden, an egg and poultry operation and an A2/A2 dairy herdshare, farming with regenerative practices to organic standards, with no pesticides or herbicides and only natural fertilisers.
The milk is unpasteurised, non homogenised A2/A2 from a small herd of two dairy cows, Liberty and Ginger, who live on pasture around the clock and eat carefully chosen non GMO or organic feed. Michigan law means you join the herdshare before buying dairy, and members pick up at the farm, with equipment sanitised between every milking and the milk filtered and in an ice bath within the hour. The farmhouse kitchen bakes sourdough from organic flour and pastries sweetened with maple, honey or coconut sugar rather than cane sugar, and a self serve farm stand is on the way. Visits are by appointment.
