Heart's Pasture Farm is a small woodland family farm in Alanson, in northern Michigan, where Todd and Amanda Wolter and their two daughters farm on biodynamic, beyond organic principles: no chemical fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides, GMO seed or soy anywhere on the place.
Their Nigerian Dwarf goats browse the mixed woods forest, eat unsprayed hay with a kelp and herb blend for minerals, and are milked by hand in the open air, the milk filtered and chilled promptly in glass half gallon jars.
Raw goat milk is shared through a herdshare guaranteeing at least six months of milk each year, generally May through October. The farm also grows more than thirty varieties of specialty potatoes for a CSA, raises registered American Guinea Hogs for pork and piglets, teaches sourdough classes at its outdoor woodfired brick oven, and offers homestead consulting. Farm visits are by appointment only.
