Glendree Organic Farm

Mona and Harry Muller work it along organic and biodynamic lines, certified organic by Organic Trust, and they still plough with draft horses. Cows, goats, sheep, hens, ducks and bees share the ground with a vegetable garden, herb beds and a heritage orchard of apples, pears and plums. The land sits inside a Hen Harrier Special Protection Area, and the family joined the Hen Harrier Programme in 2018 and became Farming for Nature ambassadors in 2021.

Vegetables and herbs are grown for the house and for sale, and the farm also raises seed for the Irish Seed Savers Association nearby. Ordering is simple and old fashioned. You pick from the seasonal list on the website before eleven on Saturday morning, then collect at the farm that afternoon during daylight. Payment is cash, and you are asked to bring your own box or bag, or borrow a crate for a ten euro deposit.
