The best farms

  1. 1Pembertons Farm Shop & DairiesPembertons Farm Shop & DairiesRaw milk, meat & eggs · Lytham Saint Annes4.7 (393 reviews)Pembertons is a traditional working family farm at Birks Farm on Ballam Road in Lytham, on the Lancashire Fylde coast, delivering milk to local doorsteps for three generations. Pembertons Dairies has been established for over 130 years, and the milkmen still deliver up to four times a week across Lytham, Ansdell, St Annes, Moss Side and Marton in returnable glass pint bottles, with pasteurised, semi skimmed, skimmed or raw milk available in plastic containers alongside cream, butter, eggs and yogurts. The farm shop, opened in 2017 after a 20 year plan in the making, stocks the farm's own free range milk and cream, a butchers counter of farm reared or locally sourced meat, groceries and a hot food pantry, with a Milk Cabin at the farm open 24 hours. The farm is also known well beyond Lancashire through Tom Pemberton's Farm Life YouTube channel, which shares the day to day of Birks Farm.
  2. 2Gazegill OrganicsGazegill OrganicsRaw milk & meat · Clitheroe4.5 (250 reviews)Gazegill Organics is an organic farm at Rimington in Lancashire that has been farmed by the Robinson family for nearly 500 years, now with Emma Robinson and Ian O'Reilly at the helm. Shorthorn dairy cows graze heritage wildflower meadows, and the farm keeps traditional British rare breeds, farming at low intensity with nature and sustainability front of mind. Their A2 raw milk is organic, unpasteurised and unhomogenised, and the award winning online butchery delivers organic grass fed beef, veal, lamb, mutton, pork and chicken across mainland UK, alongside a deli range. There is a farm shop at Gazegill itself, open Monday to Saturday.
  3. 3The Milking ParlourThe Milking ParlourRaw milk & eggs · Clitheroe4.8 (98 reviews)The Milking Parlour is a small family run farm in Sabden, selling raw milk fresh from their grass fed Friesian herd through a self service vending machine at Cockshots Farm. The milk is tested regularly, and the machine also serves raw milk milkshakes. Alongside the milk you can pick up local cheeses, eggs and butter. Milk and milkshakes can be paid for by cash or card, but the eggs, cheese and butter are cash only, so bring some change if you want the full haul.
  4. 4Cliftons FarmCliftons FarmRaw milk & eggs · Preston4.9 (83 reviews)Cliftons Farm has been home to the Parkinson family since 1967, in the village of Inglewhite in rural Lancashire, and was the first certified organic family dairy farm in the north of England. Thomas and Iris Parkinson milk certified organic Jersey cows for raw milk, raw cream, raw butter, natural live yoghurt, cheese and ghee, raise the male calves for beef butchered on site, and keep organic free range hens for eggs. The farm shop opens daily and only sells what the farm produces, down to fruit pots from the orchard. A local delivery round covers parts of the North West, a courier service reaches England and Wales, and it is worth phoning ahead because some products are seasonal or limited.
  5. 5Barton Brook DairyBarton Brook DairyRaw milk · Preston4.5 (87 reviews)Barton Brook Dairy is a third generation family dairy farm on Station Lane in Barton, just north of Preston, home to an award winning herd of 120 milking cows. Raw milk and raw milk milkshakes are sold straight from the farm every day from 8am to 7pm, in half litre, one litre and two litre sizes, with click and collect on the way. In 2016 farm manager Phil and his wife Sara set out to diversify beyond difficult supermarket milk prices, and after a visit to an ice cream convention chose gelato over the usual farmhouse ice cream, inspired by Phil's time in Florence. Today Sara makes over 30 flavours on the farm using the herd's own milk, served Wednesday to Sunday from the farm, and there is even a lactose and sugar free gelato for dogs. The herd is milked in a robotic parlour and has its own barn to relax in.
  6. 6Hoscar Moss Milk ShopHoscar Moss Milk ShopRaw milk · Ormskirk4.9 (58 reviews)Hoscar Moss Milk Shop is a family run dairy venture at Sandyways Farm on Hoscar Moss, near Ormskirk. The farm has produced milk here for a long time and has more recently opened its own shop, so people can buy pure, traditional raw milk straight from the source. The shop keeps generous hours, open every day from 7.30am to 8.30pm, and the milk is sold unprocessed, just as it comes from the herd. If you want to know more before you visit, the farm can be reached by email.
  7. 7A hand holding a carton of the farm's raw milk with a cow and her suckling calf in the field behindNaked MilkRaw milk · Preston4.8 (62 reviews)Naked Milk is raw, unpasteurised whole milk produced fresh at Gracemire Farm in Treales, near Preston. Nothing is done to the milk beyond the essentials, so it keeps the natural structure, flavour and richness it has as it leaves the well cared for herd. The milk is sold from a self service honesty box at the farm, open every day from early morning until evening, so you can call in whenever suits and help yourself. If you have a question, the farm is happy to take a phone call.
  8. 8Denholme Gate HoneyDenholme Gate HoneyRaw honey · Colne4.9 (55 reviews)Denholme Gate Honey is a beekeeping business based at Throstle Nest Farm near Colne, producing pure, raw Yorkshire honey that goes straight from the hive to the jar, unpasteurised and unprocessed. The range follows the seasons, with a spring honey, a summer honey, borage honey and a rich heather honey. Everything is sold through the online shop, from 340g jars up to 1kg, 2kg and 3kg tubs, along with raw honeycomb, a triple jar gift set and honey with added pollen or ginger. Orders are delivered, and the website lists where else to find their honey.
  9. 9Farm on the FellFarm on the FellRaw milk & meat · Preston4.7 (52 reviews)Farm on the Fell is a cow with calf dairy at Big Blindhurst Farm in Bleasdale, Lancashire. Calves stay with their mothers and share the milk, and the small herd of Jersey and Jersey cross cows is milked just once a day in the morning. The raw milk is sold on the farm and made into gelato in the farm's own processing room, and they also rear rare breed pork and 100% pasture fed beef. The farm shop is open every day from 8am to 8pm with a raw milk vending machine, the gelato shop opens at weekends, and milk, gelato, pork and beef can all be ordered for nationwide delivery.
  10. 10Bell Fold FarmBell Fold FarmRaw milk, fruit, veg & eggs · Preston4.9 (36 reviews)Bell Fold Farm is a traditional family run farm shop on Moorside Lane near Preston, kept by the same family throughout its long history. The focus is on freshness and provenance, with fresh eggs and seasonal fruit and vegetables at the heart of the offering. • Pembertons Farm Shop & Dairies

    Food quality is amazing.

  • Gazegill Organics

I don’t believe there’s a better place in the UK to source your meat from. Family owned and high integrity people. I have been ordering online for at least 3 years and have never had a problem. I now order every 1-2 weeks and never buy supermarket meat anymore because the difference in quality is chalk and cheese. Gazegill #1.

  • Cliftons Farm

This is the farm I've been looking for for a long time. I found out that the best breed of cows is Jersey. The best milk is A2. The healthiest is unpasteurized. They have it all here. Besides milk, they sell meat, butter, ghee, yogurts, grated fruit with yogurt, ice cream for only £2, eggs, and cheeses. It doesn't even come close to store-bought goods. Simply 10/10. Thanks to the people for such a great place. From now on, I'll be ordering home delivery.

  • Barton Brook Dairy

Fantastic place, extremely clean, friendly & helpful staff, dog friendly, nice seating area. The milk is raw, (how nature intended), my daughter is lactose intolerant, but raw milk she has no problem with, also sell milkshake. Ice-cream parlour - Lots of diffrent variety & sizes, also coffee, all yummy. It's well worth the trip if your not local. Will be visiting again to stock up on milk. 5⭐️
