  1. 1Freedom Hill FarmFreedom Hill FarmRaw milk & eggs · Otisville4.9 (436 reviews)Freedom Hill Farm is a small, visitor friendly Jersey dairy at 115 Grange Road in Otisville, New York, run by owners Rick and Julie. Rick grew up on this very farm and returned in 2003 after 26 years managing a 2,000 cow dairy, rebuilding it as a family farm that combines natural farming with Christian ministry, and all are welcome regardless of belief. The Jerseys are pasture fed, and the farm holds a New York state permit to sell raw milk, with the dairy regularly tested for quality. Pre ordered raw milk is sold from the farm alongside yogurt, kefir and buttermilk made with the farm's own milk. The farm store, open seven days a week, also carries free range eggs, local raw honey, local beef, pork and chicken, maple syrup and other goods from nearby producers. Visitors are welcome every day during the evening milking, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

  • 23WintersGrass FarmWintersGrass FarmRaw milk, meat & eggs · SauquoitWintersGrass Farm sits in the Sauquoit Valley of New York, about 10 minutes from the city of Utica, and is run by Jordan and Hannah Winters. Jordan grew up in the Utica area and spent a year apprenticing under Joel Salatin at Polyface Farm in 2006 before coming home to start the farm. In 2012 he managed Maple Hill Creamery's 100 percent grassfed dairy at Little Falls, then spent a year in Virginia supplying raw milk to local families through a herdshare, and that is the work that set him on the raw milk path. Hannah grew up on her father's small hobby farm in Minnesota and moved to New York in 2014. The couple leased their present farm in 2015, and since April 2016 it has held a New York State raw milk dairy license, the first and still the only one in Oneida County. The farm calls itself pasture based and beyond organic. The herd is moved daily on rotational grazing, and the animals raised on that grass become 100 percent grassfed raw milk, 100 percent grassfed beef, pastured pork and GMO free pastured eggs. Chicken and turkey are not available at present. Cuts are processed and vacuum packed by Jordan Brandt of Red Barn Meats in Croghan, and sold from the farm store alongside bulk beef and pork in quarters, halves and whole animals. • 24Threefold Community FarmThreefold Community FarmRaw milk, fruit & veg · MonseyThreefold Community Farm cares for forty acres of land at Monsey in Rockland County, New York, about thirty miles north west of New York City. It was formed in 2018 when the Pfeiffer Center of the Threefold Educational Foundation and Duryea Farm of the Fellowship Community came together, and it is worked biodynamically throughout. The team grows vegetables, herbs, flowers and seed crops, makes its own compost and potting soil, rotationally grazes and cuts hay for what they describe as Rockland County's only dairy herd and raw milk creamery, works two draft horses and manages an apiary. The self serve farm store on Ackertown Road runs on the honour system and is open 7am to 8pm, seven days a week, for as long as there is stock. It sells raw milk from the farm's own Jersey forward micro herd, yogurt made in house with heirloom cultures, cheeses, herbal teas, the farm's Lightroot herb salt, beeswax salves and seasonal ferments, with pasteurised milk offered alongside the raw. Because the dairy is seasonal, quantities follow the cows' lactation cycles, and the farm says milk is plentiful from May to January and scarce in late winter and early spring. There is also a CSA, a Friday produce stand in season, guided farm tours and practical training in biodynamics.
